I remember how my improvising friend once threw me into the rough sea of improvisation. "It’s all about surviving", he said. And knowing this he was under the spell of the "wind-mill arm", like a Don Quixote fighting against his own limb that had turned into a windmill. It is a gesture that says: I take the impulse from there, I try to catch it - I try to catch myself. But wouldn't that mean to draw yourself out of the swamp by grabbing your own tuft? That’s how the disciples of dance try to pull the "dancing body" out of their normal body as if this body would be nothing but a shell. But I am no teacher and I have my doubts.
It is beautiful to watch, no doubt.
